  • From 1936 to 1942, the Lincoln division of Ford Motor Company produced a line of luxury cars called the Zephyr. The car’s name originated from the Greek word zephyrus, which means the god of the west wind, alluding to its highly aerodynamic styling. Under the hood, it had a 4.4L flat-head V12 engine that generated 110 hp at 3900 rpm and 186 lb.-ft. of torque at 2000 rpm. It was the only car in the U.S. that had a V12 engine at that time. A low center of gravity and equal weight distribution also improved the car’s stability and handling. Plus, it had a unibody structure, which was a novelty in the U.S. car market. It came in various body styles such as a two-door coupe, a four-door sedan, a convertible coupe, and a convertible sedan. The single-piece alligator hood was balanced and opened from the front, making it easy to access the engine area. All in all, Lincoln produced 29,997 units in 1937, making survivors rare today. Auto World has replicated this beautiful 1937 Lincoln Zephyr in gloss black paint with striking chrome accents and red interior.
